“Arts Therapies are characterised by the clinical and evidence-informed use of the arts within a therapeutic relationship that relies on experiential and action-based interventions” (De Witte et al., 2021).
Mindfulness-informed Arts Therapies
I have specialised in providing a confidential space for individuals to explore and navigate their experiences of loss and change in their lives. In particular, I work with people who have experienced:
loss and grief
depression and anxiety
stress and burnout
chronic illness and disability
cancer and medical trauma
relationship and parenting difficulties
infertility problems and pregnancy complications.
My approach is integrative and collaborative, aimed at facilitating insight and growth. Throughout the sessions, you will have the opportunity to explore different creative methods informed by mindfulness techniques. Mindfulness is the practice of paying deliberate attention to the present moment in a non-judgmental and accepting manner.
Individual sessions are 50 minutes and tend to be at the same day and time, weekly or fortnightly. They can take place via online platforms, using your own laptop, with a stable internet connection. The duration of the interventions varies, in time-limited therapy we agree on a limited number of sessions, while in an open-ended therapy we review the duration of the treatment as we go along. Once we agree on a final session, we can then plan and process a clear ending together.
I have over a decade of experience working with hospices and bereavement organisations, supporting individuals affected by life-limiting conditions and bereaved families. I am a registered Arts Therapist (Dramatherapist) with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and a member of the British Association of Dramatherapists. Both have codes of conduct which I closely adhere to.
Mindful Arts Workshops
I work with adults, both online and in person, offering a bespoke approach in English and Italian. There is no requirement to have had any prior experience in the arts, or drama, as I work with the therapeutic aspects of the creative process, focusing on your pace and potential.
Mindful Arts Workshops incorporate story telling, creative writing, ink painting, mindful movement and breathing techniques to promote awareness, self-expression and well-being. The workshops themes are often inspired by natural symbolism and the cycle of seasons, encouraging explorations of personal meanings and narratives.
We typically meet once every three months for a two-hour session. You can join workshops on an ad hoc basis and follow up with an individual session if you interested in exploring emerging themes more in details.
I also facilitate bespoke workshop upon request. If you are interested in arranging one, you can contact me via the online form. To receive updates about future workshops, you are welcome to join my mailing list.
